SCIENTIFIC EFFORTS IN PROTECTION OF NATURAL RESOURCES
Professor Nandipati Subba Rao born on February 20, 1957 in a village of Varagani (Pedanandipadu Mandal, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh, India) is a faculty of Geology, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Prof. Subba Rao’s concerted scientific efforts for the last three decades through print media (109 items) created awareness, motivation and inspiration in the public to protect and manage natural resources vitiated from human activities. This social service is an outcome of his more than 90 scientific research publications in the peer-reviewed national and international journals, and research guidance of Ph.D. theses. In 2009, Prof. Subba Rao was the recipient of coveted National Mineral Award from the Government of India and the State Scientist Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier, Prof. Rao received the Vishala Bharati Gaurav Satkar (2011) from the Delhi Telugu Academy, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award for Best Academician of the Year 2010 and Best Researcher Award (2008) from the Andhra University, and HC Dasgupta Memorial Medal (2001) from the Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Society of India. Telugu Book of Records recognized Prof. Subba Rao as an outstanding and dynamic personality in promoting the scientific knowledge in the society.
