ETERNAL SACRED FLAME (NANDA DEEPAM), BURNING CONTINUOUSLY FOR NEARLY 700–800 YEARS SINCE THE CHALUKYA PERIOD.

The ancient Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple located at Gambhiraopet Mandal headquarters in Rajanna Sircilla district has received special recognition for its eternal sacred flame (Nanda Deepam), which has been burning continuously for nearly 700–800 years since the Chalukya period.

This holy flame stands as a rare and remarkable symbol in Indian spiritual tradition. From the Nizam era to the present day, it has never been extinguished, reflecting the unwavering devotion of the villagers, their commitment to preserving tradition, and their deep spiritual faith. Local devotees strongly believe that this sacred flame blesses the village with prosperity, abundance, and agricultural wealth.

The villagers’ daily service of supplying fuel and ensuring the uninterrupted continuation of this sacred flame has been recognized as a rare example of collective spiritual dedication. This extraordinary centuries-old tradition of the eternal flame has now been officially recognized as a special record by the Telugu Book of Records.
